Dairy One’s Integrated Farming Solutions (IFS) team recently completed an intensive training session on MikroTik, the number one router in the US known for its flexibility and performance. The training, held in Ithaca, New York, was led by accomplished trainer Rick Frey and encompassed the Certified Network Associate (MTCNA) and Certified Routing Engineer (MTCRE) courses.
Rick Frey, a veteran with over a decade of experience in training, provided invaluable insights and expertise throughout the course. The MTCNA certification is a foundational component of the MikroTik certification path, covering essential topics necessary for network administration. The MTCRE course builds on this foundation, diving deeper into static routing, policy-based routing methods, and OSPF, preparing students to adeptly utilize routers in real-world scenarios.
The IFS Hardware team scored an impressive ten points above the average test score, a testament to the dedication and hard work of the group. This achievement underscores the team’s commitment to continuous learning and excellence in serving customers.
This training is particularly important as farmers continue to integrate technology between their office and the parlor in more ways than we can imagine. As multi-site farm networks become more complex and vendors from around the world install devices, seamless communication is not as simple as just plugging in a cable. It requires real expertise and institutional knowledge to ensure that dairy farms parlors operate 24/7. The IFS team is selective of the devices used by them, which in many cases, have seen uptime exceeding 1,400 consecutive days and two decades of life.
