Water is a vital thing for all life to survive and thrive. It has many uses, but mainly it’s drunk and used to clean things. At Dairy One, our labs often receive water samples for different analysis purposes. We primarily test the water that will be drunk by animals. But we also work with food production plants to ensure the water they use for cleaning their machines is safe. In the following sections, we will discuss more about these water testing services.
Livestock Water Analysis
Clean drinking water for animals is important for their health. There are different ways that owners source drinking water for animals. And while water may look clean, organisms in it are microscopic, which makes it impossible to tell if there is a problem with it.
There are two common water analysis packages offered by Dairy One. One package looks at common water quality and nutrition physicochemical properties. The second package offers another level of testing that does a bacterial evaluation for coliform and E. coli. Both packages are a way to ensure your animals are drinking good water.
Water Testing for Food Production
Food production plants use water when cleaning and sanitizing their equipment. Although it’s often mixed with cleaning solutions, the water itself can still carry bacteria that cause problems. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a bacterium commonly found in water that can be detected and, once identified, treated to prevent further issues. This bacterium is particularly present in milk and milk processing plants. But testing the water will help stop the bacterium from continuing to spread and cause larger problems. Dairy One’s Regulatory Laboratory works with many milk processing plants to catch these problems.
